‘Keys to Opening the Spiritual Gate’ is a training day for those planning to facilitate ‘Opening the Spiritual Gate’ face to face courses.

We now have facilitators working across Cheshire & Merseyside Palliative & End of Life Care Network; Greater Manchester, Lancashire & South Cumbria Network and Royal Devon & Exeter, delivering the course to their own local healthcare professional workforce.

We are always looking to expand the course into other areas – if you are interested in training your own staff or want to incorporate the course across your network, please get in touch for more details.

1. Requirements

Potential facilitators will be frontline clinical staff (chaplains and pastoral carers are considered if they will be working as one of a pair of facilitators where the other facilitator is clinical) who already have:-

• experience of teaching
• experience of communication skills facilitation
• undertaken the ‘Opening the Spiritual Gate’ course themselves
• be supported by their organisation to run the day course in their own environment
• have confirmation from their organisation that they will be given time and opportunity to run the course

2. Training

Face to face – pairs of participants, usually both (but at least one) health professionals, will be introduced to the material and suggested methods of facilitation.

3. Materials

Participants will be provided with all the materials & resources required for delivering the course to their organisation.

4. Facilitators

Will be supported by an online mentoring and support service whilst delivering the course back at their workplace.

5. Agreement

Facilitators will be asked to sign an agreement to remain faithful to the course structure, to aid evaluation of the programme.
